What’s the minimum and maximum investment amount?

Most of the companies allow a minimum investment amount of £200.  At the upper-end, the companies are generally limited by the total amount they wish to raise.

Do the investments qualify for tax relief?

Most of the investments listed qualify for personal tax reliefs under the Enterprise Investment Scheme (EIS) and some of them may also qualify for the Seed Enterprise Investment Scheme (SEIS).  The tax status is clearly marked on each listing.  For more information on EIS and SEIS please see http://www.eisa.org.uk

How are the companies listed selected?

Britbots CROWD is looking to list an interesting range of companies involved in robotics and associated activities.  In many cases the companies listed have already been comprehensively screened by the British Robotics Seed Fund and have undergone an additional due diligence process before they can list on Britbots CROWD.

When will I be asked to pay for the shares?

Once you have made a pledge on Britbots CROWD you will EITHER (if the company has already exceeded its minimum fundraise target) be contacted within a few days with details on the payment and completion process; OR (if the company has not yet reached its minimum fundraise target) be contacted once the total pledges exceed the minimum amount sought.

Can I make multiple investments on the platform?

Yes.  There’s no limit to the amount of investments that can be made; and having some diversity in your portfolio is to be encouraged.

Who responsible for the legal agreements and the due diligence with the companieS?

Most of the companies listed will use the standard shareholder agreement used by the British Robotics Seed Fund; and all investors will be asked to become party to a pre-agreed shareholder agreement.  All the companies listed on Britbots CROWD will undergo a due diligence process and their fitness to take third-party investment will have been assessed.

How actively involved with corporate affairs of the companies in which I invest will I need to be?

Unless otherwise requested by an investor, Britbots will undertake tasks involved with the management of the shares (such as attending meetings and voting matters) on the investor’s behalf, acting in concert with the British Robotics Seed Fund where appropriate.  Additionally in most cases Britbots will attend board meetings of the company, ensuring that investors’ interests are properly considered. 

When will I receive share certificates and EIS/SEIS certificates?

Share certificates will be returned within one month of making the investment.  Typically it will take up to three months to get EIS and SEIS certificates returned.
